Well the 10 day trial is over, thank god. In actuality it was a 6 and a half day trial, but who's counting. i made it through 6 days of the cleanse and it can best be described as the good the bad and the ugly:
The good: I'm drinking alot more water than i have in years and hopefully will be able to continue that trend. Also because of that fluid intake, ive stopped drinking everything else, which is good because that means no caffiene or excess sugar because i'm not drinking Soda either. My brain function seems clearer, altho a psychosis is psychosis.
The Bad: I didnt make the 10 days. so i'm sure i lost out on about 10 lbs that i could have kept off, but i prolly made up for that by eating like a pig the last 3 days. All that food that i was craving the 1st 6 days, i managed to consume in the last 3 days, Hooray for my colon(made ya proud, didnt i kristy)
The Ugly: My fat ass
At least i'm back on plan for the year.

Day 3 - I hate elderberries - 248 lbs
I now have exactly 0 oz. of solid waste in my body, trust me on that one. After the first entire day of fluids only, and peeing more in one day, than i had in the previous 7, I think the cleanse is starting to do its thing. I'll admit though that yesterday was hell. At several different times yesterday i was craving Cheesy Poofs, Hawaiian Pizza, and Meatloaf (all 3 a staple of my winter diet) and hell, even at one point i was thinking about gnawing on some shoe leather. I will have to admit tho that i did cheat yesterday. I mixed a scoop of protein powder with a glass of water yesterday afternoon when i couldn't stand the cravings any longer.
Based on how much better i felt after doing that i am most likely gonna modify the cleanse slightly. I'm planning on introducing an apple or orange into my diet when i just cant stand the craving anymore. I will most likely stick with the occasional protein shake too since its a liquid. Within the documentation that SAMBU includes in the cleanse, it talks about a "modified" version of the cleanse where you have as much fruit in the morning as you want, a whole grain sandwich at lunch and veggie/brown rice at dinner. It says the cleanse isn't as effective, for obvious reasons, but it also said that slight hunger pangs and occasional lightheaded feelings are to be expected. As a 250 lb male (versus the 100lb female that recommended the cleanse) an extra 200 calories a day in the form of an orange or protien shake is a trade off that i am willing to make if it keeps me from wanting to jump off the roof cause i'm sooooo damn hungry.
Based on a suggestion from a good friend of mine, i'm not gonna weigh myself until next Friday, the day after my cleanse is complete. The reason for the suggestion was that if i get on the scale tomorrow and weigh 240 lbs, that i would most likely feel that it would be ok to cheat and call my local pizza shop(very valid point might I add). So for those of you that read this pathetic blog, comment on it and put in your guess as to where you think my weight will be next Friday morning. Person that guesses closest will get themselves a nice little gift that I will send out to you after the cleanse is done. So over the last 3 mornings ive gone from 255 to 252 to 248, so put in a guess and lemme know where you think i'll end up. The prize may end up having a UPS logo on it, but what the hell :) Dont forget to take into consideration that most likely i'll have a day in here where i will cheat horribly, since i have 0 willpower!
I was told this morning that i am CRAZY for doin this cleanse, and all i need do is point to the title of this blog, my brain works waaaaay different than most people.
have a great day, i know i'll be miserable for most of it...

Day 2 - a 3 pound bag of shit, 252 lbs
Buh-Bye solid food, we had such a brief time together, you will be missed.
One massive defication, and i'm down 3 pounds!! this diet ROCKS!! Altho I am really begining to hate the taste(or shall i say the smell) of concentrated Elderberries. In the accompanying documentation that comes with the 10 day kit, it mentions that you may experience occasional hunger pangs, and let me tell you, this is the understatement of the century. Ive pretty much been hungry for easily a couple of hours so far today. Tea, a glass of water, and some fiber in a jar, really ain't cutting it, but then again, i need to eat less than 2000 calories a day so this diet is gonna definitely help achieve that goal. I'm scared to think how many calories a day i am ingesting, but i cant believe its more than 200 let alone my normal 2000. I'm craving a ton of different things atm, but know that all i have to look forward to is more elderberry concentrate water, and i just want to call and order a sausage pizza, or two.
Oh and guess what, I have the bladder control of an 80 year old man....Yeah, I'm peeing 10-12 times a day, wooot!! For being a collegiately educated man, I shouldn't be suprised that if your diet consists of nothing but fluids that i would be urinating more frequently, but jeez, every hour? god help us all if i have an all day meeting or conference coming up in the next week :P

Day 1 of the Elderberry Deep Cleanse-255lbs
Feb 19th and it has started. I'm embarking on a 10 day journey of cleansing my colon of all the built up toxins and general "gunk" that our bodies carry around because of the food choices we make(doesnt that sound yummy!!). In a nutshell the 10 day program is primarily a liquid only diet that will attempt to use your bodies innate ability to expel toxins through high volume of liquids. Vitamins and Herbal laxatives are taken in the morning, 6 liters of water consumed each day, with Elderberries and fiber mixed in for flavor and substance. We'll see how that goes.
Today is day 1 which is considered a "prep" day. Fruits in the morning, Vegtables in the evening with an introduction of the vitamins and flavors throughout the day. I haven't felt really hungry all day so far. An apple and an Orange this morning, and a bag of lettuce at lunch is all i've eaten today (besides liquids). Holy crap can that be accurate? Can someone who eats a bagel and coffe for breakfast, a big sandwich and Mt.Dew for lunch and a half a pound of meatloaf for dinner, not be starving after a day of only eating "rabbit-food"? Yup. Thats it. An apple an Orange and a bag of lettuce. Now i'm not gonna lie, the motivation for me isn't to cleanse my body of toxins, i'm purely doing this for the weight loss associated with only consuming 300 calories a day :P but i'm secretly(well ok, not that secretly now) hoping for a better general sense of feeling healthy that i haven't experienced in a few years.
Turning 39 a few weeks ago has really scared the crap out of me and made me think about my own mortality and some changes that needed to be made. Ive realized that if i'm lucky, my life, as wonderful as it has been up to this point, is half over. To weigh 255 lbs and be 6'4" isn't considered terribly obese, but i like being able to get out of bed in the morning without my back hurting cause of the extra 20 pounds ive been carrying around for several months now. I am encouraged that the 10 day plan lays out all the food choices for you. Sort of like your mom making all your meals for you when you were a kid. You never had to think about what you were eating, you just ate what was put on your plate, 3 times a day. We have so many choices as an adult what foods we can consume, and for someone like me, that has no willpower when it comes to food choices, a strict plan works much better for me. The example of my daily calorie intake isnt an exaggeration either, i can and do regularly eat that much food over the course of a day. Its truly a miracle that I don't weigh 350 lbs so hopefully radically changing my diet will be a benefit, but here's the dilemma...
What do i do when the 10 days are over. Post on day 11 will include the "rigid" diet that i am going to try and stick to, a combination of easy to prepare, healthy foods so more to come on that.
